Why You Should Use A Recruiter

   Written By: Andrea Lehner

Good people make all the difference. Every employer knows how important this rule is to running a successful, profitable business. And, every business owner knows that putting this theory into practice is harder than it sounds, especially in the automotive industry where high turnover and underperforming employees drain the life out of a dealership.

Successful dealerships have above average CSI, customer loyalty, and consistently strong performance numbers, all of which increase when the right personalities are in the right positions. By using the professional recruiting services of AutoPeople, the guesswork is taken out of finding that perfect 'fit' that will make a dealership thrive.

When a position, especially a key management position, is vacant, dealer principles have two choices: place a public advertisement or use a professional recruiting service. The problem with classifieds and internet ads is they attract the unemployable and the job hoppers, bogging down HR with a flood of subpar resumes. Additionally, when a vacancy is publicly advertised, dealerships are exposing themselves to their competition and are potentially alerting their own employees to a planned change. If the intent is to replace an employee that is not aware they will be leaving, publicly advertising the opening would create a negative disruption throughout the organization. Shrewd business owners don't reveal strategic changes to either personnel or competitors prior to implementing them.

By utilizing recruiters, owners and General Managers are able to eliminate time-wasting applicants and public exposure. The professionals at AutoPeople will only send screened, verified, and experienced candidates. More often than not, these candidates are content in their current positions and wouldn't otherwise be looking to make a change. With an extensive database and twenty-year history of proven applicants, AutoPeople is able to contact the right person, anywhere in the country, and invite them to step up to a new opportunity.

Recruiters do the preliminary legwork for dealers. References are checked, including those the applicant does not list on their resume. Previous employment and skills are verified. Applicants are interviewed to ensure their ability to communicate effectively. This extensive screening process eliminates 9 out of 10 applicants. Only the best of the best are then sent to the dealer for consideration. Usually, the "best" is a candidate that is not looking for a new job is most definitely not reading the classified. They are too busy making money for the competition. Recruiters can contact those individuals, shielding dealerships from entering an unethical territory of stealing employees. Since AutoPeople already has a history with the top professionals in the industry, finding the right person is easy.

Bottom line, recruiting services save dealerships money. Human Resource Managers no longer have to weed through pages of emails from unqualified applicants. Days, if not weeks, of pre-screening efforts are eliminated. Busy managers don't have time to interview dozens of applicants. Most are stretched too thin as it is.
